While braces or aligners can do many kinds of tooth movements, there are some things they are not able to do. They are unable to address many growth issues and often cannot correct the bite alone. This is why we have adjuncts, or additions, to the braces and aligners alone. In many of these cases, wearing these add ons will speed up treatment, meeting out goals sooner, and provide a better treatment outcome. Some of these adjuncts are fixed, or attached in the mouth, and some are removable. The removable ones rely on the patient to make sure they are being worn. In these cases, the patient plays a big role in treatment time and outcome.
